Hornets Tech, a specialist in broadcast connectivity and IP video, is bringing a new range of encoders, decoders and an IPTV platform to IBC 2026.
Broadcast infrastructure today rarely runs on a single format. Facilities operate SDI, IP and ST 2110 side by side, and signals need to move between them without added complexity or the replacement of equipment already in place. Hornets Tech says it has developed a new range of encoders and decoders to meet that need.
The SDI encoder takes up to 16 SDI inputs in a 1RU unit and converts them to MPEG-TS for IP distribution, with a matching decoder converting them back. The ST 2110 encoder and decoder perform the same function for uncompressed ST 2110 video and audio, allowing facilities to send feeds off the production network without carrying uncompressed signals throughout.
The HDMI encoder accepts up to eight inputs, including 4K60, from laptops, media players and other AV sources. An IPTV platform manages the channel line-up, feeding a set-top box capable of displaying up to eight streams across two screens.
“We have built one platform, but that does not mean everyone has to use it the same way,” said Alistair Horne, Director, Hornets Tech. “Turnkey hardware, software on your own servers, or white-labelled under your own brand, depending on the operation.
“Support comes from the engineers who built it, not a call centre.”
Wireless RF video remains a core part of the business. Hornets Tech has supplied RF systems since 2006 and is an authorised reseller for Domo Broadcast Systems, formerly Cobham RF. The range covers onboard camera transmission for motorsport, sailing and air racing, electronic newsgathering (ENG) and live sports links, and film assist, with COFDM receivers offering up to 16-way diversity and sub-40 ms latency, plus the antennas, downconverters and filters to go with them.
