Matthews Studio Equipment has introduced T-Go Mounting Solutions, a pair of camera rigging kits built for production scenarios where speed, sudden directional changes, vibration and impact loads push conventional grip equipment to its limits.
The range comprises the T-Go Ball Head Kit and the T-Go 5/8” Kit. Both are aimed at shots taken from the hood of a stunt vehicle, the cab of a crashing car, a roller coaster seat or an aircraft mounting point – setups where, according to Matthews, a rigging failure means lost footage at best and a safety incident at worst.
The Ball Head Kit is a three-in-one mounting system comprising a Ball Head Assembly, a Jr Pin Bracket and a Grid Clamp. The modular design allows grips to build configurations on a combo stand, a 5/8” rail or a grip equipment without improvising a solution from mismatched parts.
The 5/8” Kit is built around the industry-standard 5/8” pin system and ships with crosses, swivel tees, corners, double barrels and rods in six lengths, for use on speed rail and standard group hardware.
Four low-profile T-Go Corners each carry three pass-throughs that accept any length of 5/8” rod, keeping builds compact. The Double Barrel provides two parallel pass-throughs for inline configurations, while the T-Go Cross uses orthogonally oriented pass-throughs so that a build can extend in several directions at once.
The systems were developed by veteran key grip TJ Beatty over decades of production work, after he found no existing product that answered the extreme-load situations he encountered on set.
“When you’re rigging on a process trailer at speed or mounting to an aircraft, you must know the camera isn’t going anywhere,” said Beatty. “I built T-Go because I needed it, and it didn’t exist.”
All components across both kits are Computer Numerical Control (CNC)-machined to tight tolerances and finished with hard grey anodise for wear resistance and corrosion protection. Matthews said the parts are designed to integrate with the grip equipment already carried on production trucks.
