Anevia’s NEA-DVR software will power HiNet’s delivery of live and on-demand content to viewers’ screens

HiNet, the data communications business group of Taiwanese telco Chunghwa Telecoms, has selected Anevia’s NEA-DVR software to add further content delivery network (CDN) capacity to its infrastructure.

Broadcasting across 280 channels, HiNet currently has around 100,000 over-the-top (OTT) users. According to Anevia, the win was largely attributed to the configuration and ease of use of Anevia’s Origin/Packager.

Peter Chou, section chief of HiNet, commented: “Anevia’s NEA-DVR solution was exactly what we were looking for to provide us with the agility essential to address today’s fast-evolving markets. We are very impressed by the speed in which it could be implemented and how simple it is to use.”

Anevia’s NEA-DVR enables HiNet to stream live and on-demand content in the required multiple protocols — such as HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) and Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) — in order to reach all types of end-user devices while applying multiple digital rights management (DRM) that protects the content.

Antoine Hugoo, sales director, telco and media, Asia-Pacific, Anevia, concluded: “Our NEA-DVR satisfies the growing flexibility needed to meet the demands of the market, and to support content delivery, including 4K/Ultra HD (UHD), while still accommodating SD and HD output.”
