For those who missed this years’ IP Showcase at 2019 NAB Show in Las Vegas, the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM) has decided to share its documented JT-NM Tested project results to help broadcasters in their transition to IP.
The JT-NM has been working closely with vendors and users to provide news-you-can-use information for professionals in the media industry.
The test, sponsored by the JT-NM and administered by the EBU and the IRT — the two top European technical bodies — called for vendors to submit equipment for evaluation during the week of March 18 this year at the Fox Networks facility in Woodlands, Texas, USA. Participants were given the opportunity to list their equipment in the JT-NM Tested catalogue.
This catalogue described the test criteria and testing methodology, as well as the hardware and software versions of the products that were tested.
Although the test carried out is not a certification programme, it is a timely update of how vendor equipment conforms to key parts of SMPTE standards, providing broadcasters, especially those from Asia-Pacific attending BroadcastAsia2019 in Singapore this month, a useful reference as you begin your equipment evaluation and qualification process.
