Nickelodeon comes to Japan via ViacomCBS-Rakuten partnership

ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) and Rakuten Group, Inc., have come together to launch Nick+, Nickelodeon’s subscription service on Rakuten’s video-on-demand platform, Rakuten TV in Japan, covering mobile, STB/dongle, web and Smart TV devices. 

The partnership also includes the creation of the first-ever dedicated Nickelodeon digital storefront in Asia on the Rakuten Ichiba internet shopping mall in Japan, to be launched in May.

Nick+ on-demand shows airing on Rakuten TV include SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Bubble Guppies, Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues & You!, Deer Squad, The Loud House, Game Shakers, The Thundermans and more for a monthly fee of 440 yen (US$4.05). Rakuten TV is offering a free 14-day trial at sign-up for first-time customers of Nick+. It is also offering prizes in a lucky draw for all who sign up until May 27th.

Japanese audiences will be able to easily purchase products across multiple categories, including fashion, stationery and collectibles of some of Nickelodeon's most beloved characters from iconic franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the new dedicated e-commerce zone on Rakuten Ichiba.
