A new alliance that promises to empower the entire production chain, from camera optics to distribution, has been formed with the acquisition of ARRI by Thomas Riedel, founder & owner of Riedel Communications and the Riedel Group.
According to the companies, ARRI’s ecosystem of camera, lighting, and systems technology “perfectly complements” the Riedel Group’s existing portfolio and opens new technological and strategic market opportunities.
For Kevin Schwutke, Senior VP, Corporate Development, Brand & New Business ARRI Group, the strategic rationale of aligning the companies’ portfolios is clear, as he told APB+, “ARRI’s strengths in premium image capture, lighting, and colour science are highly complementary to Riedel’s expertise in real-time signal transport, processing, and communications infrastructure.
“Over time, this creates the potential for more integrated, system-level workflows that enhance reliability, image consistency, and operational efficiency in complex live event and global sports productions.”
Through close collaboration, ARRI and Riedel aim to unlock new areas of growth, especially in live entertainment and sports. By combining their respective technologies, the companies plan to develop integrated solutions that open new creative and technical possibilities for customers.
While that remains a long-term goal, both companies will continue to operate independently and will develop their offerings based on clear market and customer needs.
What the acquisition establishes, said Schwutke, is a strong foundation that combines ARRI’s cinematic standards in image quality and colour fidelity with Riedel’s globally proven live production infrastructure.
“This positions the group well to support emerging hybrid and immersive production formats, including in fast-growing regions such as APAC, as industry requirements continue to evolve,” he added.
