Star News pairs TVU ONE’s ISX units with Starlinks for Bangladesh elections

In a stress test for remote broadcast integration, Star News successfully utilised TVU One mobile transmitters paired with Starlink satellite connectivity to anchor its coverage of Bangladesh’s landmark 13th National Parliamentary Election. The deployment ensured uninterrupted, high-definition reporting across 299 constituencies as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured a landslide victory, ending two decades in opposition.

For broadcasters, the operation highlights the growing viability of hybrid bonded cellular and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite workflows in volatile infrastructure environments. Star News faced the triple threat of uneven terrestrial network density across river delta plains, extreme time sensitivity, and the logistical congestion of a nationwide security mobilisation.

The technical backbone of the coverage was TVU’s Inverse StatMux Plus (ISX) transmission technology. By aggregating 5G, 4G, and Wi-Fi signals with Starlink’s satellite link, the TVU One units provided a single, robust data pipe.

This “bandwidth aggregation” approach allowed the network to maintain low-latency feeds even as local cellular towers became overloaded by election-day traffic. Utilising HEVC/H.265 adaptive bitrate encoding and Forward Error Correction (FEC), the solution delivered broadcast-quality signals from remote polling stations where traditional fibre or microwave links were unavailable.

Star News crews deployed the technology in portable backpack configurations combining the TVU One transmitter and a Starlink terminal. Once on location, reporters could go live within minutes as the system automatically detected and aggregated available networks. If one connection dropped, others continued carrying the signal without interrupting the broadcast.

Throughout election day, multiple reporting teams transmitted live feeds from across Dhaka and other key locations. These feeds were routed to the broadcaster’s headquarters, where production teams integrated field reporting with studio commentary for continuous coverage.
