Tuxera, a provider of file systems and networking technologies, is showcasing its latest advances in connectivity performance to the media world at IBC2026.
Complementing the Tuxera Fusion Server Message Block (SMB) platform, the company will be demonstrating its performance-boosting approach to Network File System (NFS) architectures.
Today’s media infrastructures depend upon huge data sets which need to be securely accessed by multiple users. To prevent creativity and productivity from being constrained by connectivity bottlenecks, system architects are looking to break through performance ceilings and put the content where it is needed without delays.
“We are already recognised for our blistering fast SMB performance,” said Duncan Beattie, Senior Market Development Manager, Tuxera. “Tuxera Fusion SMB is the world’s fastest enterprise-grade SMB file-sharing for Linux-based storage solutions.
“With RDMA, for Windows and Linux workstations, 22.5Gbps on a single 200GbE is achievable. In fact, in our lab, we have seen 250Gbps to a single workstation.”
Beattie stressed that SMB performance was cross-platform. “With our partner ATTO Technology, we have seen MacOS throughput reach 10.5Gbps on a single 100GbE, and constantly improving,” he said. “These speeds translate into huge productivity gains, which in turn means there is more time for creativity, ensuring users deliver the best work in the most efficient manner.”
Ensuring media infrastructure architects are free to build the environment that best suits their needs, Tuxera is now bringing its high-performance approach to NFS connectivity. While widely used in applications like rendering, VFX and image scanning, it has traditionally been seen as challenging to integrate NFS islands into wider workflows.
Tuxera has expanded its capabilities with Fusion NFS, not only delivering the fastest speeds yet achieved using the protocol but providing integration between SMB and NFS. The result is data connectivity that bursts through performance ceilings, opening up the potential for very high performance, cross-format, cross-platform media architectures.
“Delivering the very best in high-quality, high-throughput file systems has been at the core of Tuxera for more than 30 years,” Beattie said.
“Today’s media environment is hugely demanding for data connectivity, with huge files needing to be accessed by multiple users. Creative users need to work with the best tools for their art, and do not want to be slowed by limitations in moving content from one environment to another. That is why we have brought all of Tuxera’s skills and experience to bear on transforming the media technology space.”
